Meeting with Verpėjos residency program participants – Jitka Kralova and Kat Wood

We invite you to come to Kabeliai on October 27th, 1-5pm to meet this month’s residents.

At 2pm we will have lunch prepared together by the residents at Verpėjos kitchen. The meal will be mainly made from local ingredients and we will try kvass made by the artists.

After lunch the artists will share their work and will invite everyone to contribute to a communal weaving as well as to spend the afternoon sitting around bonfire.

More about the artists:Jitka Králová, originally from the Czech Republic, is interested in rural landscape and its transformation over time, as well as in walking, storytelling, and collecting. Her artistic practice encompasses painting, drawing, and ceramics, which she also uses to create site-specific installations and subtle interventions in public spaces, that establish a sensitive connection with the specific places and contexts she encounters. Jitka is currently, among other things, exploring the charm of kvass.

Kat Wood, a UK-based artist, explores the cultural dynamics and political history of rural communities, focusing on their deep connection to the natural environment. Her work spans photography, textile arts, and collaborative projects, often highlighting the resilience of farmers and their struggles in a rapidly changing world. Through initiatives like the WAVY WOOL CLUB, she bridges urban and rural communities, sharing traditional skills and advocating for the sustainability of farming practices.
