Kornelijus Pelkys. “Bu(vo)tas”

On June 8, at 1 p.m. Kornelijus Pelkys exhibition “Bu(vo)tas” opens at the Marcinkonys station gallery.

The first exhibition of the artist, VDA graphic arts bachelor’s student, examines the themes of urban loneliness and alien communion. Revealing an anthropological perspective, the exhibition consists of four mixed media works that include different forms of artistic expression: book art, illustration, graphics, ceramics, audio recordings. The curator of the exhibition is Marija Marcelionytė-Paliukė.

Kornelijs Pelkys: “I’m interested in the feeling of a stranger’s fellowship when I listen to people sharing stories about their lives in homes I’ve never been to. Collecting fragments of street conversations, memories of my home and stories of close people, I touched the flow of collective presence that is hard to name. Author John Koenig offers this feeling with the newly coined “sonder”, a “deep awareness that everyone, including random passers-by, has a life as vivid and complex as yours.”

The exhibition will be open from June 8 to 30. The exhibition can be visited on Saturdays – Sundays, 12:00 – 17:00, or by appointment by phone. +37061416255.

Address: Marcinkonių stoties galerija, Kastinio g. 1C, Marcinkonys, Varėnos sav.
The exhibition is organized by “Verpėjos”, financed by the Lithuanian Council of Culture.
