Hiking the areas surrounding the village of Musteikiai

On Sunday, 31 October, we invite you on a hike around the area surrounding Musteikiai village. Together with the locals we will walk about 6 kilometres, calling the woods, fields, hills by their names and remembering what they testify to the works and battles of previous generations. We will be studying place-names and the secret trails of the partisans.

We will gather at 12:00 in Musteikiai village. The exact location of the meeting place will be provided for those who register by phone: 861416255 or email: verpejos@gmail.com

Before the hike, there will be an opportunity to eat a delicious lunch together (price per person – €7). When registering, please note whether you will be eating. If not, we will be waiting for you to join us at 13:00.

The event is part of the project “Grūdos krašto istorijos. I dalis”.

The aim of the project is the development of an interactive map and a discovery route of the Grūda upstream area, with detailed descriptions and photographs, based an expedition by researchers in various fields and archival material. The project initiates the process of creating an image of the landscape of the region by naming and highlighting the values of the region, lost in the Soviet era and by creating attractive material for travellers. At the end of the year, the map and route will be available at verpejos.lt.

The project is funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.
